Day one of the Dixie Invite. Being down in St. George was great but our race wasn't until 3 pm so it was really hot. The guys and I warmed up 2 miles and did our usual pre-race rituals. My stomach wasn't feeling good at all before we started. The race was ready to begin. Right when the gun went off, I tried to push off my back foot but I slipped and went straight down to my hands. The kid next to my stepped on my hand which really hurt but I rushed to get up. Luckily the officials stopped the race so this gave me another chance. For the second start, I knew I wouldn't be able to start out as fast as I wanted to so I had to settle for a slow start. The gun went off again and we were off. I fell almost to dead last because of my super slow start. but I pushed early on the back straight to catch the lead pack. The first 200 was really slow so I knew this race would turn into a kickers race. We hit a 68 for the first lap and as we came onto the back straight, Alydia was yelling at us to pick up the pace. I moved into 4th as we fnished the second lap hitting 2:15 (67). Again while on the back straight Alydia was yelling for us to pick up the pace, so Mike moved into first place and I moved right behind him. He pushed the pace even more and we came throught at 3:21 (66) for the 1200. On the last lap as we had 300 to go, I surged passed Mike and knew I had to close with a good last lap. As I hit the home straight, I could hear someone right on my should but I was too scared to look to see who it was. I was able to hold off and finish with a 4:24 (63) to win the race. To my suprise, to person right on my shoulder was Alek. He finished 2nd running a 4:25 and barley qualifying for state by .02. We cooled down 2 miles with some of the Pine View guys. They're really cool and it was fun to get to know them more.

Noteable mentions: Alek Parsons had a 4 second pr and qualified for state, Dylan Anderson ran a 4:30, Harrison Godfrey pr's by 9 seconds to run a 4:31, Travis Feeney another freshman phenmon ran 4:34 for a 7 second pr, and Nathan Child ran 4:43 which is a 8 second pr I think? Great races for the guys!!! Mike Didnt have the best day ever and ran a 4:30.

Another thing to mention is that I totally tore up my shoes running that race. My feet are too wide so my shoes are pretty much destroyed even though this is the second meet I've used them.... Really not happy about it.
