Today was a continue of our taper for tomorrows meet (City County). We ran to the duck pond and back running easy 8 minute miles. Me and Nathan gapped the guys but just barely. We then did 4 easy 100 meter strides. I felt alright but I still felt really tired. I hope I'll be ready for tomorrow. I'll be running the 1600 and the 800 on our medley team hoping to state qualify for both and set a new city county record. The record stands at 4:20 and is held by a former Ogden High runner (Riley Cook). Me and Mike Buckley will pace each other and see what happens.

Today was the first day of our annual city county meet. I was set to go in the 1600. I knew it would be Mike and I pushing the pace but I didn't know how I really felt warming up. Alek, Dylan, and I warmed up an easy 15 minutes and Mike joined soon after we started. We fianlly lined up and the gun went off. I took to the lead and led us through at 32-33 for the first 200 with a pretty crappy head wind and Mike right on my tail. As we hit the home straight, I moved aside for Mike to take the lead because that was the plan. We hit 67 (too slow but it hurt) and Mike lead the 2nd lap. As we hit the home straight, Mike moved aside and I took the led as planned, again we hit 67 (2:14, slow but really hurt). I took the 3rd lap and knew I had to start pushing but I was really hurting by this time. I lead us through at 66 (3:20 dying almost) and Mike soon took the lead. We went all out and as we hit the final straight Mike gapped me a little and I was too tired to care enough to try to catch him. Mike finished first at 4:26, I was second at 2:27-28, Alek was third at 4:28-29 which is a 4-5 second pr, and Dylan was 4:29-30 which is a 8-9 second pr (still unsure official results). It was really awesome to sweep it because Ogden has never done it in this meet. It is also the first time Ogden High school has ever had 4 guys sub 4:30 which is pretty sweet. However I'm unsatified with my personal time.

The guys and I cooled down pretty short because Mike and I still had the medley to run. We warmed up 1200 meters and stretched and it was time to race again. Our 200 meter runners did pretty well and kept within a second or two from Weber's team. Mike was then up on the 400. He underestimated the pace of the 400 and ran a too conservative but it was too late (he ran a 56). I was the anchor and took off trying to get the Weber kid who had a really huge lead on me. The Bonneville 800 runner was right on my tail and passed me on the first lap. I sat on him and we came through at 58 for the first lap. With 300 left, I passed the Bonneville runner and tried to gap him. The Weber runner still had a big lead on me and I only closed it a little. As a team we ended up taking 2nd in the medley (3:44). I ran a 2:00 for my 800 split but so had the Weber 800 runner so thats why I couldn't close the gap. It was a tough race and we missed state qualifying by a couple hundreths of seconds but I'm still happy with my 4 second pr. I cooled down an easy mile and a half and streched.

Tomorrow is day 2 for the meet and Im set to run the open 800, along with the 4x400 (with Alek, Dylan, and Nathan or someone else?).

Justin, welcome to the blog. It's fun to read about OHS runners and your success.

That's great you guys had 4 guys sub-4:30! Hope today went well for you in the 800 and 4x400.

I look forward to following your blog and continued success.

Day 2 of City County was today. I was kind of upset I didn't get to run the 3200 today but I knew I had to help out on the 4x400. Mike, Alek, and Garret still were able to go 1,2,3 in the 3200 though!! Mike cruised to an easy 9:49, Alek a 4 second pr at 9:51 and Garret Barton the freshman phenom with a 8 second pr running a 9:53!!! I was really happy for them! Sadly Harrison still isnt fit enough to finish strong in the 3200 so he kind of lost it in the last 800 and took 7th but in due time he'll get there.

Soon it was time for the 800, so I warmed up an easy 15 with Dylan and Travis. We stretched, did plyos and strides, and it was time to race. I didn't get that good of a start. There was a lot of jostling around for position in the first 50 meters and I managed to take a spike to the shin which really stung but I couldn't worry about it. Dylan took the lead for the first lap and I sat back in 3rd place for a bit and we came throught at 60-61. As we moved onto the back straight of the last lap, Will Palmer from Weber moved into first but I saw his arms start to tie up. With 200 meters left I moved into 1st and gave it my all. With 75 meters left in the race I started to tie up really bad but I was able to hold off untill the finish winning in 2:00 (about 59 for my last lap). Dylan took 3rd at 2:01 and Travis was 6th with a 2:05 which is a 2 or 3 second pr I think. Mike was still feeling tired from the 3200 so he took 8th running a 2:07. I was realy happy with having my official pr being 2:00 but I was also really upset I still didn't qualify for state which is 1:59 but I'm sure I'll get it later. I cooled down by my self an easy 5 minutes and stretched.

As time drew near for the 4x400, I warmed up by myself again another 5 minutes. Still tired from the 800, Dylan was set to anchor while I took the 3rd leg. Alek started off running a strong 54 for his leg and keeping us close to the leaders which were Weber and Bonneville. Nathan was our second leg and ran a good 55, however the leaders had gapped him and he gapped the next pack of kids so he was in no man's land. He handed off to me and I ran out by myself and didn't really know how to pace myself. I hit the 200 at 29 and realized I ran too conservative. I sprinted as hard as I could closing in a solid 25 for 54, handing off the baton to Dylan, still in no man's land. Dylan gave it his all and ran a solid 55, taking 3rd place way behind the leaders but way ahead of the next pack for a combinedd time of 3:41. The four of us cooled down an easy 15 minutes.

As far as team scoring goes, we finished 2nd place with 133 behind Weber (166.5) and ahead of Fremont (81). Some of our guys just had an off day but we still did well as a team. This is the best we have done in this meet in over a few years but I still wish we could have pulled out the Win.

Awesome, congrats on the win. City-county was a pretty big meet back in my days and I assume it still is, so winning is a great accomplishment.

Thanks! and yeah it's our first big important meet of the year and a lot of us were hoping to get state qualifying out of the way but that'll have to come at our next invitational.

With today being the day after racing, we were told to run easy paces. For my first run, Mike and I ran to the duck pond and back, and then out another 1/2 mile and back to make it 4 miles. We took it pretty easy so took us about 30 minutes. I went home and did my 18 minutes of core like normal. After resting for a bit and waiting for the guys to get out of school, Mike and I went to go run with them. Alydia told us to do a 10 mile run with them because we were going to do a work out on Saturday (not excited for that). So we ran from the school to the park, did the mile loop around it twice, and then continued on to our normal 8 mile loop through the trails. The run tooks us about 75 minutes since we were all tired. I had some bad stomach issues today. I really hope I'm not coming down with a bug or something. Overall I didnt really feel sore at all, I just had tired legs.

Before running I did my normal core workout. Today was just another easy day. Mike, Alek, Dylan, Nathan, and I just ran the half mile to the park and ran the 1 mile loop seven times. We ran about 7:30 pace, until we had three laps left then Mike and Nathan picked up the pace. I went with them and we ran 7:00 pace for the last 3 1/2 miles while Alek and Dylan ran the the slower pace. We finished at the school, stretched, did plyos, and four 100 meter strides. Alydia locked her keys in her car which was pretty funny and we tried to break in it but our coat hanger was to short. So we just went home haha.

I forgot to type this up on Saturday but here it goes. We did a pretty easy workout. Mike, Alek, Dylan, Nathan, and I met in the morning and warmed up 2 miles easy. We finished our warmup and started the workout which was 10x400 at 2 mile pace with 80 seconds rest. Mike and I were supposed to be running 70-71's but it just felt way to easy so we ran 69's pretty much for the whole thing except the wind was really terrible which made it suck. All of the guys were ahead of their paces to so I guess we all felt pretty fine which was a suprise because we weren't too smart with our eating choices the night before haha. We finished the work out (69,69,69,70,68,69,69,69,69,68) really comfortably and cooled down. We ran out to the normal mile mark and the guys wanted to go back but Mike and I wanted more time so we just kept going while they turned back. When we got back to the school, me and him decided to run one more mile on the track so we did in 6:18 which felt really easy, like walking because we had a really good talk the whole time. Oh, today Mike and I took on the Warrior Challenge at The Pizza Pie Cafe and boy was that a mistake. It is litterally impossible.

13.500.000.000.0013.50

First run of the day, Mike and I just ran an easy 5 miles in about 36 minutes after 2nd period (I love having free periods haha). My stomach is still messed up from all the cheese from the pizza challenge me and him did on Saturday and my legs felt pretty tired today. After our run, we stretched and went home. I did my usual core workout which hurt extremely bad today.

For the second run, Mike and I did the warm up with the guys because they did a workout today (we both have to do it tomorrow on the indoor track, by ourselves.... kill me). After doing 15 minutes with them we had to sit around and wait to talk to Alydia so while we were waiting we just got our plyos and Six strides out of the way. After talking to her, we went to finish our run while the rest of the guys worked out. We ran another 45 minutes to make it an hour total. It was an easy, even pace the whole run. My stomach was still not feeling to good from the pizza but I think I'll be good to go tomorrow. Since I don't have a 4th period, I'll probably do the workout on my own. It would be that ways anyways because Mike is doing a workout for the 2mile but I'm doing one for the Mile. We'll see what happens.

Today was a really good workout day, even though I didn't really feel the best. I did my workout with Mike after school at the indoor track because Alydia changed my workout from a miler workout to a 2miler workout which kind of made me mad but oh well. The workout was 1200, 600, 400, 800, 2 sets with 2 minutes rest, 90 seconds, 90,seconds, and 4 minutes in between sets. I warmed up with Mike and Garret, streched, did plyos and strides, and started. On the first 1200, Alydia told me to only do a 1000 right behind Mike just to get a feel for the pace. The first interval already sucked pretty bad but I still hit 2:56. On the 600, Mike and I just felt like we didn't have any speed today and it showed because we only ran a 1:41. After the 600, Mike was complaining of feeling just completely terrible. We ran the 400 next in 65. After it was time for the 800, and we just felt like complete garbage and finished it in 2:22. By this time Mike said he was done. I couldn't let him be done though. I told him I would lead the next set for him. I couldn't let him just give up. Mike agreed to continue the workout if we switched off leading every lap (so every 200 meters). We started the next 1200 and followed our plan. Again, Alydia told me to run only a 1000 but I couldn't leave Mike hanging. I stuck it out and made sure he went with me and we ran a 3:33 for our 1200. After this we knew we would be fine just following our plan to switch off every lap. We started the 600 and ran a 1:41; we still didn't feel good about our speed today but we couldn't really push much faster for some reason. Our next 400 was at 66 which Mike had decided to lead the whole thing. And after that, we did our 800 which Mike again decided to lead the 1st, 3rd and 4th lap but we still ran a 2:20. For feeling as crappy as we did today, we still ran a decent workout. We cooled down at a pretty fast pace for another 15 minutes and stretched.  I still wish I could start to feel better for workouts and even normal runs but I guess that'll just have to come when we taper for races.

Wow, I just realized how terrible I am and keeping this updated everyday. On this day, I did my normal core workout and then ran with Mike. We ran from the school to the end of the pipe road and back which is a little over 7.5 miles. When we got back, we stretched, did our normal plyos and finished with 6 strides. I was super tired from the workout the day before and I had gotten a pretty good massage which just made things worse.

This day again was another easy recovery day. The rest of the guys were doing a workout, so Mike and I warmed up with them 2 miles. Alydia needed to talk to us, so after the warm up, Mike and I just did our plyos and 6 strides out of the way. When she was done talking to us, we left the guys to do their workout. We did the same run as monday but just a little faster. total it was like 58 minutes. I still felt pretty crappy.

Not going to lie but today sucked really bad. Since it was just Mike and I doing a workout, we headed up to the indoor track after 2nd period. Warmed up the usual 15 minutes, streched, etc. Todays workout was 600, 90 seconds rest, 200, 2 minutes rest, 6 sets. We started right into it and I was already dying. I felt like we going 200 pace already on the first 600, but we only came through at 34; we still picked up the pace though and finished the 600 in 1:39. The next few intervals of my workout went like this: 200 (30), 600 (1:39), 200 (30), 600 (1:41), 200 (30), 600 (1:43), 200 (30). After that 4th 600 I was about ready to call it quits. However Alydia told us the day before that if the rest after the 200 wasn't long enough, then add another 30 seconds. So thats what we did. For the 5th set I ran 1:41 and 30. I should've just stopped here but I at least had to try to do the next one. I decided just to run a 400 on the next one while Mike still ran 600. He had asked me to lead the second lap (my last lap) so that's what I did and I hit 65. I still gave myself another 90 seconds and did my last 200 in 29. But I didnt feel right about doing 200 meters less than Mike so after my last 200, I gave myself 45 seconds rest and did one more 200 at 30. Mike and I then cooled down 15 minutes and stretched. I felt like garbage about today's workout but Alydia says since we're going to start tapering this next week, I should be good to race on Friday and Saturday. I sure hope she's right.

Today was just and easy run. I ran in the morning with Alek, Dylan, Garret, and Travis. We started from Weber State and ran to the end of pipe and back. Then we ran to the out to the Dee Events center and back just to make it 8 miles. It took us 60 minutes because we were told run easy recovery pace. I felt alright but really tired

Today was the beginning of our taper. our workout was really easy, even though I didn't feel the best. The guys and I warmed up our normal 15 and stretched, ect. the workout was 8X400 at 2 mile pace with 90 seconds rest. my times were 68, 71, 70, 71, 70, 71, 70, 69. My stomach was a little upset today. I hate how the school's lunch schedule is so close to our workouts. I am really happy this is a taper week though. I cant wait for Friday and Saturday.

Today was just an easy workout. We warmed up 20 minutes and did our usual stuff. We ran 6x200 at around mile pace with 200 jog in between each one. I ran 33's for the first 5 and a 32 for the last. It was pretty easy but I was still feeling tired. We were told to only cool down 5 minutes so we did.

Day one of the Dixie Invite. Being down in St. George was great but our race wasn't until 3 pm so it was really hot. The guys and I warmed up 2 miles and did our usual pre-race rituals. My stomach wasn't feeling good at all before we started. The race was ready to begin. Right when the gun went off, I tried to push off my back foot but I slipped and went straight down to my hands. The kid next to my stepped on my hand which really hurt but I rushed to get up. Luckily the officials stopped the race so this gave me another chance. For the second start, I knew I wouldn't be able to start out as fast as I wanted to so I had to settle for a slow start. The gun went off again and we were off. I fell almost to dead last because of my super slow start. but I pushed early on the back straight to catch the lead pack. The first 200 was really slow so I knew this race would turn into a kickers race. We hit a 68 for the first lap and as we came onto the back straight, Alydia was yelling at us to pick up the pace. I moved into 4th as we fnished the second lap hitting 2:15 (67). Again while on the back straight Alydia was yelling for us to pick up the pace, so Mike moved into first place and I moved right behind him. He pushed the pace even more and we came throught at 3:21 (66) for the 1200. On the last lap as we had 300 to go, I surged passed Mike and knew I had to close with a good last lap. As I hit the home straight, I could hear someone right on my should but I was too scared to look to see who it was. I was able to hold off and finish with a 4:24 (63) to win the race. To my suprise, to person right on my shoulder was Alek. He finished 2nd running a 4:25 and barley qualifying for state by .02. We cooled down 2 miles with some of the Pine View guys. They're really cool and it was fun to get to know them more.

Noteable mentions: Alek Parsons had a 4 second pr and qualified for state, Dylan Anderson ran a 4:30, Harrison Godfrey pr's by 9 seconds to run a 4:31, Travis Feeney another freshman phenmon ran 4:34 for a 7 second pr, and Nathan Child ran 4:43 which is a 8 second pr I think? Great races for the guys!!! Mike Didnt have the best day ever and ran a 4:30.

Another thing to mention is that I totally tore up my shoes running that race. My feet are too wide so my shoes are pretty much destroyed even though this is the second meet I've used them.... Really not happy about it.

Day two the Dixie Invite today. The 3200 race was set to go early in the morning at around 9:45 so it wasn't as hot as it was for the mile. This was my first 3200 race for the season so I didn't know what to expect. We did our usual warm up and it was time to race. The day before, we had gone to ross and luckily I was able to find a pair of flats in my size to race in. As the 2mile started I got out well in second but I guess Harrison had fell so the officials called us back (what is it with our team falling at the start of races?? haha). On the second start, I got out into first place, which I really wish didn't happend. I lead us throught the first lap at 71 and from there the race is a complete blur. Nobody else wanted to help me lead the race so I was stuck with the honors. I don't even train for the 3200 so this made me upset. I know we came through next couple of laps at around 2:22-23, 3:34-35, and 4:50. After that I was really hurting but still no one wanted to lead. Finally as we came through with 800 meters to go, Josh Thatcher took the lead from me but I was just to tired to go with him. Soon after Garret and Alek passed me, and then Mike. I tried to hang on the best I could and for the last lap, Mike yelled at me to go with him just like practice so I did. on the final straight, I passed him and finished 4th running a 9:40 which is a 14 second pr for me. The time is alright and I can't complain, especially since I train for the 800 and 1600 but I was just irritated that I was stuck leading it.

Notable mentions: Alek Parsons took 2nd running 9:38 for a 13 second pr, Garret Barton the freshman phenom ran 9:38 which is a 15 second pr!!! both qualified for state including Mike (9:41) and myself. Mike didn't have a good day again. Harrison Godfrey also ran pr to run 9:59!

After the 3200 I cooled down only 5 minutes because Alydia still wanted me to race the 800. As the 800 drew nearer, I felt really terrible and really didn't want to race but Alydia wouldn't let me drop out so I warmed up 5 minutes and got ready. Right when the race started I knew I was in trouble. already by the first 200 I was falling off everyone. I came through first 400 at 62 and already I was done. I kept going and finished pretty bad in dead last running a 2:12 for my final time. That was honestly on of the most excruiating races ever, but I don't care because I did run pr's in both the 1600 and 3200. I guess I'll just have to qualify for the 800 later on. I cooled down 2 miles by myself just to get it over with.

Notable Mentions: Dylan Anderson ran a 2:00 which is a 1 second pr and took 5th place, Travis Feeney ran a 4 second pr running a 2:01 placing 6h, and Nathan Child ran a pr and ran a 2:06.

This meet was pretty successful but we still have a long way to go.

Just a quick side note; All season I kept thinking that I only wanted to race the 3200 one time but after that race, I'm not sure I can stay away from it. I've run the 3200 every year since 9th grade as one of my main events and it has kind of grown on me :P I might try to run the 3200 at maybe the Davis invite or the BYU invite.... who knows? ;)

The workout was 400, 600, 300, 300, 3 sets, with 90 seconds rest, 90 seconds, 75 seconds, and 3 minutes after a set. I was really windy so it made the workout a whole lot worse. my times were 66, 1:41, 48, 48, 65 1:40, 48, 47, 65, 1:42, 48, and I was completely dead to the point of almost passing out so I didn't do the last 300. I then cooled down 15 minutes with the guys.

I went and got a good massage so I know tomorrow will suck.

For the first run of the day I ran 5 miles easy by myself in 36 minutes.

For the second run, I ran the normal 8.5 mile loop with the guys in about 58 minutes and finished with 4 strides.

For the first run I didn't feel the best, but the second one was alright until about 50 minutes in, then I just felt pretty tanked.

I ran from OHS to the end of pipe and back with Alek. It was a pretty easy pace and we talked about a lot of things. We we finished with 4 strides.

We had a duel meet today that we got to just mess around in today. I threw the javelin and placed 5th!! lol. I only threw a 75'8" but it was still really fun. We had a ton of good laughs at this meet :D

Today's workout was alright. My stomach was really upset which made it suck pretty bad though. My workout was 800, 400, 4 sets, with 90 seconds rest after the 800 and 2:30-3:00 rest after the 400. I ran 2:23, 66, 2:22, 65, 2:22, 65, 2:22, 65. I was super windy today so after the first lap, I would take the lead from Mike and lead the 2nd lap. We warmed up and cooled down 15 minutes.

Today's workout was kina of miserable. I didn't really feel good at all and it definately showed. My workout was 1000, 800, 600, and 6X400. I warmed up with the guys like normal. we soon started and after every first lap I took the lead from Mike. My times were 2:57, 2:20, 1:43, 66, 65, and 64. After the 3rd 400 Mike and I were pretty tanked. So we were told to just jog a lap and come back and finish with three 300's. So we jogged a lap and did our 300's in 48, 47, and 47. I then cooled down with Alek 15 minutes. My times were alright today but I just wish I felt better. My stomach hurt pretty bad today too. These morning workouts are hard to get my stomach to cooperate with me.

Todays workout was probably on off the most painfull. Everything was a 800 pace which sucked! the workout was 400, 200, 200, 4 mins rest, 300, 300, 200, 4 mins rest, 200, 200, 200, 200. For each rest we had 1 minutes because it was as fast as it was. We warmed up and started. The first set was 59, 29, 29. The second was 44, 45, 30. By this time my body was feeling like I had just raced an 800; the lactic acid buildup in my legs was getting bad. I finished the last set with all 30's. Me and Harrison then cooled down 15 mins.

Today was the Davis Invite. I qualified for the invited mile so I didn't race for a while. I warmed up 2 miles by myself and stretched and so on. When it was time to go outside, it was freezing cold with bad winds and it was super wet from the rain that happened earlier. My race was terrible. my body was just freezing and I was done after only 850 meters of the race. I then cooled down with like 12 guys (give or take a few)  from the race haha which was pretty fun. Little by little people dropped out until I was alone. I cooled down about 4 miles.

I dropped immediately to last place and fell off the pack about 5 meters but I still came through at 28 for the first 200. I hit the first lap at 60 and started to real in the pack. When I had 150 meters left my groin started to tighten up really bad because of how sore it was. I couldn't sprint all out because I felt like it was going to tear so i missed state qualifying by .16 of a second. I'll get it next week. I cooled down 20 minutes with Alek.

Today was region. With the weather being bad yesterday, every event was finals today. I warmed up with Dylan, Travis, and Nathan for the 800. We did our ususal routines and it was time to race. I didn't feel to good during my strides so I knew I would have to have a smart race. Jonny Perez took the lead as the gun went off and I got out right behind him. I knew he had just run a really hard 400 so I figured he would take it out slow. After the first 120 meters, Conner Mantz surged right by us and I moved with him. We came through at high 30 for the first 200 so we were already off to a bad start. Conner kept pushing the pace and I can't thank him enough for it. We came through at 60 for the first lap. Conner told me after the race that at this point he said we already had a really good lead on the pack. Moving down the back straight, I got a little too close to Conner and almost tripped him. I felt really bad and actually mustered up my breath to say sorry. With 200 to go, I knew it was the time to move. I surged passed Conner and gave it all I had. I started to tie up really bad with 75 to go but I was able to hold off and get my first Region win ever. I was really happy with the pr of .4 of a second and to qualify for state. My official time was 1:59.15 and to be honest I really do owe it to Conner for taking the lead and pushing the pace. Sadly Dylan and Travis both missed qualifying and it's hard to face it but they both still have next year so they'll get it for sure. The next 20 minutes were complete hell though. I was dry heaving every 10-30 seconds. It hurts so bad and I was barely able to cool down 5 minutes.

I warmed up with Alek, Travis, and Dylan because we had to race the 4X400. Travis ran a 53 for the first leg, I ran a 52 for the second leg, Dylan ran a 53 for the third leg, and Alek anchored with a 58. Adding up al the hundreths of seconds, we only ran a 3:39 which is a pr but we still took 5th and didn't qualify for state. We then cooled down 15, and then  I finished my cool down with Sarah and went 25 minutes total.

Both boys and girls took 4 place as teams so it sucks but oh well.

I ran with Mike to the school to meet the guys. Travis and I ran with Mike and Nathan for about 25 mintues and then turned back and headed to the school. We finished at about 45 minutes and stretched. Me and him had to to 6x200 with a 200 jog in between. There was a pretty bad head wind so we hit 31, 31, 31, 30, 30, 30. I then cooled down 5 minutes around the track and then ran home with Mike.

I warmed up with Alek since we were the only 2 in the mile. We did our normal routines and such and went to the bullpen.  A lot of the guys took part of our group prayer which was pretty cool. But it was time to race. The race started and we were off to a quick start. I came through at 63 for the first lap. After that I had know idea what my splits were. On the  third lap, I fell asleep and didn't move like I needed to which was a rookie mistake. I sat behind Tyson Compton for way to long and ended up paying for it. I finished 10th in the race but only ran a 4:23. I was kind of unhappy with my race but it is what it is. Alek ran an awesome race and placed 9th running a 4:21 which is great for a sophomore! Conner won of course running a 4:10. Alek and I then cooled down for 15 minutes.

I sat around all day waiting for my race which made me pretty upset. Sadly I was the only Ogden runner in the 800. I warmed up by myself for my last high school track race. As I finished warming up I reported to the bullpen. While in there I had realized that I forgot to take my inhaler. Luckily Alydia showed up and I asked her to go get it and she sprinted to get it. I took 2 quick puffs and when out to the field with the guys. I was in the "slower" heat of the two but it wasn't slow at all haha. The race started and we were off pretty quick. I came through at 28 for the first 200 and then 59 I think for the 400. At this point my head wasn't really in the race that much but I still tried to go with the lead pack. I finished 4th in the heat and 10th overal running a pr of 1:57. Im happy for the pr but unsatisfied with the fact that my mind wasn't in it. I took off for a quick cooled down talking to several other people along the way like Conner. I felt really good on my cool down and was running about sub 6 minute pace for 4 miles. Im going to take my much needed off season now just to get my legs fully recoverd. I plan to get some good mileage in this summer and run in college. Im not completely sure where yet but I'll know probably within the 2 weeks of my break. See ya all in 2 weeks!

Well guys I'm back!!! After a well needed 2 week break of no running, it felt good to get back to it today. For the passed 2 weeks I've been just playing other sports to stay a little active. I was trying to gain 15 pounds to hit 150 just for the fun of it but sadly my metabolism is to fast haha :P When I weighed myself this morning I weighed 136.8. I guess it just wasn't meant to be :'( but anyways... today I did 8 minutes of core and then I met up with a couple of the guys. I ran to the school to meet them and we were off. about 16 minutes into the run for them (20 for me) Alek and I started to pull away from everyone. So we just decided to continue with that pace. We were running the normal 8.5 mile loop but for me it since I ran from my house it would be a little over 9. It wasn't until 27 minutes into the run that I decided I wanted to get home sub 60... haha so I started to pick up the pace more. I knew I would have to negative split the rest of the run pretty hard. It wasn't long until I started to gap Alek. Once we were off the trails, I waited for him to catch up really quick then took off again. When I had about 3 miles left, I looked at my watch and saw I still had to pick up the pace. So again I left Alek. Sadly my stomach started to give me really bad problems and I had to uh... stop and use a tree and leaves..... lol. Alek caught back up to me and once we got to the park I went and used the actual bathroom. Alek kept going and I just started after him once I was done. I got to the school and I saw I only had 2 minutes and 50 seconds to get home to go sub 60, but I knew that only average when im going really fast it takes me 3 mintues to get home. So I kind of took off like I was running an 800 haha. When I got to my street I started to sprint to try to make it. At my house I litterally leaned like I was finishing a race and stopped my watch to see that I barely made it running 59:59.22 hahaha. Pretty great run for my first day back.

Oh by the way a couple days ago I officially decided to run for Utah State University so I'll walk on the team starting in the fall semester.

Not going to lie but this mornings run was miserable. I got to bed pretty late so I didn't wake up to go run with any of the guys. I end up just going by myself. I ran from my house, to the park and up the trail, to the end up pipe and back. it took be about 59 minutes total for the run. I kid you not, I had a head wind the whole entire time which pissed me off because I was already tired from yesterday. Then to make matters worse I began chafing down below because of my stupid shorts. The whole run just sucked. Hopefully tomorrow is better.

Almost home I ran into mike and ran with him for a minute just to talk really quick I got home at around 59 minutes.

Later on I went and played some intense ultimate Frisbee at the park. I know I'm going to be sore so I'm worried about tomorrow but oh well I guess haha.

i'm calling this run the 2nd worst run of my life. I started from my house and ran roads to weber state. the whole time I just felt terrible so I stopped and stretched a little. Then I continued from the football parking lot out to the church on Old Post road. Once I got there I was ready to be done. The whole run I just felt like I was dying and tying up like at the end of a race. I sat on the sidewalk and rested more. The guy who's house I was sitting in front of pulled up in his driveway. He asked if I had hurt myself but I told him I just felt terrible. He offered me some water which I gladly took. I ended up talking to him for about 15 minutes. He was a really nice and great person and I was happy to have met him. I then left and finished my run back home without stopping. my finishing time was like 58 miutes.

I ran to the highschool and met up with Alek. We just went straight into the run without stopping and without saying a single word to each other. We knew we were just gonna do the normal 8 1/2 mile loop. It wasn't until 29th street that Alek asked if I wanted to lead and I just said no. The starting pace of the run was pretty decent but we just progressively picked up the pace little by little. When we finished at the school, we went and ran a mile on the track just finishing the pace we were already going. We ran a 5:58 which felt really comfortable and then I left and finished at my house. 70 minutes.

For my second run, I went around 3 pm. I just ran to the park and up to 29th street. I had to used the bathroom so I stopped at the trail head really quick to go. When I came out, there was a runner that I recognized from the Weber State team getting a drink of water. He took off running and after I got a drink I took off to catch him. His name was Brett and he was a really cool and nice guy. We got carried away talking and I ended up running all the way back to Weber State with him before i realized what I was doing haha. The run was really nice and easy because we had Brad lead because he just felt terrible from his workout the day before. Brad left us when we got the the pond but we kept going. I ran from my house and met up with Alek at the school. we just ran the normal loop. We didn't really want to push the pace. 65 mins.

Pretty cool that I found out today that Our top 5 fastest 2mile conversions gets us ranked 22nd in the nation post season. With Mike 9:17 (9:30), Alek 9:24 (9:37), Garret 9:24 (9:38), Me 9:27 (9:40), and Harrison 9:45 (9:59) for a converted average time of 9:27. Taking the average of our non-converted times would still put us at 9:40 and would still rank us at 45th so thats really cool!

I ran from my house up to the park and up the trails. I ran out on exercise trail the the end and then back and I turned up Discovery trail. At the top I ran to strongs and ALMOST FREAKIN DIED!!! I zoned out and came a foot away from stepping on rattle snake!!! It scared that crap out of me!! for the rest of the run I was so focused on the trail. I ran to Waterfall and down to 29th then back across the golf course and home. 59 mins.

For my second run, I ran up past 29th St. and back home. 36mins.

For my first ran, I ran a little bit with Mike before he had to turn around. We ran up to the trails and out on exercise trail to the end and back. When mike was at 23 minutes he turned around. I kept going on exercise trail and then back across Mt. Ogden trail to 29th. Then I ran out to St. Joes and back to 29th and back home. 58 mins.

My second run sucked. My stomach was upset the whole time. I just ran roads. 35 mins.
