Today was a really good workout day, even though I didn't really feel the best. I did my workout with Mike after school at the indoor track because Alydia changed my workout from a miler workout to a 2miler workout which kind of made me mad but oh well. The workout was 1200, 600, 400, 800, 2 sets with 2 minutes rest, 90 seconds, 90,seconds, and 4 minutes in between sets. I warmed up with Mike and Garret, streched, did plyos and strides, and started. On the first 1200, Alydia told me to only do a 1000 right behind Mike just to get a feel for the pace. The first interval already sucked pretty bad but I still hit 2:56. On the 600, Mike and I just felt like we didn't have any speed today and it showed because we only ran a 1:41. After the 600, Mike was complaining of feeling just completely terrible. We ran the 400 next in 65. After it was time for the 800, and we just felt like complete garbage and finished it in 2:22. By this time Mike said he was done. I couldn't let him be done though. I told him I would lead the next set for him. I couldn't let him just give up. Mike agreed to continue the workout if we switched off leading every lap (so every 200 meters). We started the next 1200 and followed our plan. Again, Alydia told me to run only a 1000 but I couldn't leave Mike hanging. I stuck it out and made sure he went with me and we ran a 3:33 for our 1200. After this we knew we would be fine just following our plan to switch off every lap. We started the 600 and ran a 1:41; we still didn't feel good about our speed today but we couldn't really push much faster for some reason. Our next 400 was at 66 which Mike had decided to lead the whole thing. And after that, we did our 800 which Mike again decided to lead the 1st, 3rd and 4th lap but we still ran a 2:20. For feeling as crappy as we did today, we still ran a decent workout. We cooled down at a pretty fast pace for another 15 minutes and stretched. I still wish I could start to feel better for workouts and even normal runs but I guess that'll just have to come when we taper for races.
